What Is Guelph Post Secret?

Guelph Post Secret is a community art project created by a small group of students enrolled in Ajay Heblé's second year english course, Literature and Social Change, at the University of Guelph. Them of the course, and the project, is to create and participate in some form of community project that will raise awareness and encourage people to engage in the wide variety of struggles of human rights and social justice.

Our project is based upon the already existing framework of a now international, on-going community art project, entitled "Post Secret" created by Frank Warren. Thus, Guelph Post Secret was formed.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with the concept of "Post Secret", the idea behind it is for people to submit anonymous handmade or uniquely crafted post cards with a visible statement that expresses personal secrets that are not normally revealed about themselves. You can write as many or as few as you like, write serious ones, not so serious ones - there are no restrictions.  

We believe that this community art project will inspire all those who read them. Secrets weigh heavy on each and every one of us, no matter how big or how small. By taking part in this project, you are not only healing yourself, by letting your secrets go, but giving hope and inspiration to those who read your secret. Each individual secret sent in creates an anonymous Community of Acceptance", as people identify with the secrets of strangers from within their local community, opening their eyes to a variety of shared or different circumstances and experiences. 

We all have secrets; a secret can be anything. We want to know: What’s your secret?
